As I mentioned in my bio, there are people out there who would consider me a neo-con eliteist. That is not true. My beliefs are my own and they've been built on years of experience on both sides of the political spectrum. I can remember a time when I was a child; Jimmy Carter was running for President of the United States against President Gerald R. Ford. Because I was so young, all I saw in Carter was the big grin and charisma. I thought he was "a nice guy who deserved to win" - and he did!
It wasn't until I was in high school and President Reagan was in his first term that I began to take notice of what was happening in Washington that was beginning to affect our people. I saw people beginning to believe in themselves. We were a peaceful nation, and the economy seemed to be not as bad as it was under President Carter. By the time I was old enough to vote, President Reagan was running for his second term in office. I was really excited about the voting in my very first general election. It was the first time in my life that I experienced the second term of a sitting president. I watched my local, state and Federal governement officials work to keep our economy as stable as possible. People were happy, work was plentiful; teenagers had summer jobs working for McDonald's or Wendy's. General Electric was one of the best brands for appliances. When I was really young, maybe around ten years old, I opened up my very first savings account through my elementary school and a local bank. It started out with $10, and in the 70s, that was quite a bit of money. Interest rates at that time were around 9 percent, and you didn't have to worry about a minimum balance. I had a trust fund that matured on my 18th birthday, and at that time, I put it into my savings account. I thought that my life was going fairly smooth for a young adult.
Later on, I watched how our government created havoc on our economy because of all the tax increases onto the middle class - people like myself! These taxes came from liberals who have the idea that "it takes a village" to keep our economy working. This is a lie! In my home state of New York, I was required to pay state income taxes when I worked, and for a single person, that was a lot of money. I couldn't afford to live on my own, even when I went to college out-of-state. I was making just barely more than minimum wage which was still $3.35/hour. I wondered where all that money from my income taxes was going to, so I did some homework and found out that much of it went toward Social Security and State welfare for the poor and unemployed. We had more single mothers living at home raising a family of three or more with another on the way. I would see them showing up at the welfare office with all their children and no babysitter to keep an eye on them while the mothers filled out the applications for AFDC (now TANF), WIC, medicaid and foodstamps and other entitlements they wanted. The more I saw this, the angrier I became.
After years of discussions and guidance from my grandparents and my mother about 'the golden age,' I began to wish we could turn the clock back to those simpler days. When my mother was growing up, families consisted of fathers, mothers and children. Parents could discipline their children without the fear of being accused of child endangerment or abuse. Crime was nowhere near as high as it is today because kids knew right from wrong. They knew that if they committed a crime, not only would they face punishment from the law, they'd also get it from home! Neighbors and relatives looked after the kids when parents were not home. They watched out for each other. Kids could get advice from other adults if they were uncomfortable speaking with their parents about sensitive subjects such as sex.
Let's fast-forward to this generation. The liberal parents are basically allowing the schools and the government raise their children. They're forgetting their heritage and giving their children everything they want because many of them have been brainwashed by the mainstream media that the kids are entitled to everything they want. Even those on welfare have that same attitude. Liberals want socialism in this country because of this blatant brainwashing by the mainstream media. They've been convinced that Capitalism is evil, although the majority of the mainstream media "players" are wealthy themselves; but they're not willing to "share their wealth" because they've earned it. I just don't get it! Is it wrong to build your own business? And is it wrong to be entitled to what you earn? Why should people like me have to be forced to "share" my wealth with people who don't want to work? It doesn't make financial sense to me to have the government take something away from me that I worked hard to achieve. Technically, I still don't own my own house because my husband and I are "renting to own." What happens after the mortgage is paid off? Will we have to share our house as well? What about our bills? Is the government going to help us pay our monthly food bill with cash? No way!! They set up the food stamps program. That's not redeemable for cash, and yet so many people who are using this program are selling them dollar for dollar so they can go and support either their drug/alcohol habit or maybe buy some new shoes for their spoiled kids! This situation is so messed up that even as I write this, there's no common sense to any of it. It seems to me that our people have pretty much given in to this entitlement and socialist mentality because "it sounds good on paper."
I've seen so many videos on YouTube that are crying out to the conservatives to wake up to this and stand up for what is right. I'm afraid for my future as an adult, and I'm afraid for the future of my child. I can't stand the fact that in just over ten years, or when she graduates from college, she's going to be stuck with this debt that the Obama Administration has forced upon us. And still, I don't really see any conservative really speaking out against it nor doing enough to challenge the mainstream media to the point of shutting them up. No one seems to have any guts to say anything. Fox News and people on townhall.com and other religious conservative websites are doing all they can, and it's great .. but is it enough? I strongly doubt it.
At the same time, the liberals are very strong about spewing hatred and hostility toward the conservatives. Take the gays/lesbians supporters for example. They are no longer calling for tolerance, but purely for Christians to completely ignore what the Bible says about homosexuality and embrace the lifestyle as if it's part of God's plan. They destroy private property of churches, and they disrupt worship services with their blatant disrespectful behavior. And then they go so far as to use the same scriptures against us. To make matters worse, the authorities let them get away with it. The courts are filled with lawsuits in a hateful attempt to change the definition of marriage to include this lifestyle; schools are being forced to teach that the lifestyle is normal, and in some states, parents can do nothing. I'm afraid to speak up about it in fear of being sued for my personal beliefs, or worse - face a prison sentence if the liberals pass a federal law making my personal beliefs a criminal offense. It seems to me that the fascist, socialistic left-wing strong-arms are pushing their agenda so hard that our future Christian generations will be forced to stop thinking for themselves. Welcome to the new era, liberals! You voted for change .. and you've got it, because the change will eventually effect every single person in this country, including you! If you keep pushing your agenda on the conservatives, there will be no where even you can hide.
